STORM DAMAGE TRAIL REPAIRSWe’ve been busy this week working with @montecitotrailsfoundation and the @lospadresnationalforest to assess trail damage across the SB Frontcountry and start going on any needed trail repairs. The main focus for us this week has been the upper portions of both Cold Spring and San Ysidro Trails. Fortunately, there weren’t any disasters up there or showstoppers but we did find quite a few clogged drains, some smaller rock slides and areas where water control wasn’t working. One of the nice things about visiting trails shortly after the rains is that we can see clearly where the water control has failed. Lots of work completed this week. It’s still quite wet out there and we’re starting to get reports from farther out into the forest about road conditions and water crossings. The Santa Ynez is still large and shouldn’t be crossed just yet. Hwy 33 has reopened although we haven’t heard how big the Sespe is, probably too big to cross as well. Figueroa Mountain Road has also reopened from Los Olivos up to Ranger Peak but reports are that Happy Canyon and Sunset Valley Roads remain closed to vehicles. If you have questions or updates, you can find us at: INFO@LPForest.orgAs mentioned, it’s still wet on parts of the trails, please tread lightly if you head out there this weekend and expect most of the storm closure gates to still be closed. We got a lot of rain. As always, let us know if you come across any downed trees or other trail obstacles that should be cleared or noted.#LPFA_TrailCrew #LosPadresNationalForest #ColdSpringTrail #SanYsidroTrail #BeforeAfterLP ... PIEDRA BLANCA VOLUNTEER WEEKJoin LPFA for a backcountry trail maintenance project on the PIEDRA BLANCA TRAIL, JANUARY 16 - 25th! It looks like we have a nice weather window coming up, and what better way to take advantage of it than some time in the forest. This National Recreation Trail is on the short list for most iconic Los Padres Trails. A Wild & Scenic Creek, rolling chaparral hills, ocean vistas, and towering conifers. It really has it all. However, the trail itself needs some serious work. Sign up to volunteer for this project and help restore this quintessential LP trail! We’ll be out there for the week, but volunteers will be able to come for as long as they are able to. Please sign up on our website, lpforest.org, or through the link in our bio. See you out there!#lospadresnationalforest #lpfa_trailvolunteers #sespewilderness #trailstewardship #givebacktotheforest ... See MoreSee Less

No concern is too small and no suggestion too big. Follow the link in our bio to view our year-end newsletter and add your suggestions for what’s to come in 2026!A few stats on 2025:- 10,226 hours contributed by LPFA volunteers- 718 new and returning volunteers- 284 days LPFA had boots on the ground in the LP- 1,172 person days the LPFA Trail Crew worked in the forest- Over 60 miles of trail maintained and restored- Over 26,000 total hours contributed in support of the forest#lospadresnationalforest #lpfa_trailvolunteers #lpfa_trailcrew #2025accomplisments #2026todos ...
