The LPFA and its members, supporters and volunteers are devoted to helping the Los Padres National Forest. We help by clearing trails. We help by preserving the natural environment. We help by providing education and information about what is going on within the Forest. And most of all, we help people enjoy their time in the Forest. This past year we completed over 80 forest projects, which accounted for more than 25,000 volunteer hours. This included maintenance and patrols on over 85 miles of trail…….
……and that’s just scratching the surface of what’s to come! Help the Forest by becoming a LPFA member and/or a volunteer.
Your membership will help fund our Trail Care Program, Visitor Center Programs and Public Outreach efforts.
The Trail Care Program (TCP) is responsible for trail maintenance across the Forest. It supports the training and certification of our trail leaders as well as the purchase of needed tools for removing fallen trees and reestablishing lost tread. The TCP is also responsible for keeping campsites clean and safe.
The Visitor Center Programs include educational interpretive events at both Wheeler Gorge and Big Sur Station. It also supplies educational material, staffing and exhibits within the Centers.
The Public Outreach helps provide Forest information both for the public as well as the Forest Service. The LPFA is often the eyes and ears within the Forest and we do our best to relay what we find to all interested parties. This also includes our work on www.HikeLosPadres.com.
The LPFA is an official non-profit (501c3) partner of the Los Padres National Forest. We share the Forest Service motto of “Caring for the Land and Serving the People”. We support the Forest Service and Forest Users in the preservation of the Los Padres Forest to ensure it remains healthy, safe and open for all to enjoy.
